Craziness

I've tried to post since Wed, but blogger wasn't working correctly... so now there are a few posts from the past few days that finally published. So much for doing NaBloPoMo. After having to go to TN last minute for my brother's wedding, Gavin having a cold, me getting sick this weekend, cleaning for company we've had since Thursday... I haven't had much time to post. So a quick update.
Gavin is totally walking all over the place on his own, from one room to the next. And has been since we were in TN. We made it home safe and had a great plane ride. I love flying Southwest. On the flight to TN we had one extra seat and on the way home we had the whole row to our self. It was great. Gavin was able to play and move around without disturbing anyone...even though he liked walking up to the next row and looking at and talking to the nice lady and little girl behind us.

When we got home Gavin had a cold and I had a sore throat for a few days. Thursday we went over the Smith's for dinner and games and Nana and Grandma flew in that evening. We've had a nice visit with them. Friday we went over Sherry's and baked cookies... lots of fun. There were about 5 of us and we all brought different cookie recipes... so we each went home with a variety of cookies.

Saturday I went to see Pride and Prejudice downtown with a group of 20 friends. I started feeling nauseous during dinner. And didn't make it through the play. I had to call Clint to come pick me up. I had heard earlier that day that some of our friends that we had dinner with on Thursday had come down with a stomach virus. Well I got it too. I was dissapointed that I didn't get to enjoy the play. But I'm finally feeling better today.

Nana and Grandma leave in the morning and then we are going to Estes Park and staying in a cabin Wednesday though Sunday. So I won't be posting much more until we return.

4-D Ultrasounds

My friend is expecting a girl in January. Yesterday she had her 2nd 4-D ultrasound and invited me to go with her along with her family. When I was pregnant with Gavin we didn't want to have a 4-D ultrasound done. It freaked me out too much. But after going yesterday, it was the coolest thing. The baby kept hiding her face. Finally after my friend laid flat on her back the baby turned so we could see her face. You could see all her features, she has her mom's nose and her dad's lips. You could even see her hair.

Good Mail

We received a great package today from my aunt Patty in Germany. The cookies look delicious. Isn't the sweater adorable. Her friend knitted it for Gavin.

Quick Update

We made it to TN. Great flight... Gavin was great on the plane. There was an extra seat next to us so that made it easier. More later....

Headed To TN

One minute I'm going to being staying home all weekend and the next I'm flying to TN tomorrow.

My sister calls me Monday to tell me my brother is getting married on Friday. I knew he had gotten engaged recently, but did not expect the wedding to be so soon. So I looked real quick to check on flights and they were around $600. So I figured I wouldn't be going to the wedding.

I checked the weekend web fares this morning on Frontier and they had a flight from Denver to Nashville for $198 leaving on Friday, but it was a late flight so I wouldn't be arriving until close to midnight. That wouldn't do me any good... the wedding was going to be at 1pm. So I had my mom and sister search some more. I even tried to get my brother and his fiance to move the wedding to Saturday.

My sister, brother and mom called and said to just get a flight for Thursday and they would help with the difference in price. They lowest we had found was $470. So when arriving home around 5pm tonight I checked prices again and was able to find a flight with Southwest for $437. I booked and let my family know and headed to my hair appointment at 5:45. Then I came home and packed fast. I picked Gavin up from a friends at 9pm. And now I'm headed to bed. I will be leaving for the airport by 7:30 in the morning and won't return to CO until Wednesday.

What a crazy day....

Sippy Cups

We've tried getting Gavin to use many different sippy cups the last couple months. We've bought so many different cups, but he couldn't figure out that he had to suck on it for the water to come out. We even tried using a straw. The only way he would drink anything was out of a cup or water bottle. Then today my friend Jami was watching him and she realized whenever she watches him he never drinks anything(except an occasional sip out of his water bottle). So when they were grocery shopping she bought him a Gerber Nuk Learner Cup and it worked. It has a softer nipple, maybe that's why. At least now I can rest assured that when Gavin is away from me he is getting something to drink.

What Kind of Cookie Are You?

You Are an Oatmeal Raisin Cookie

On the surface, you're a little plain - but you have many subtle dimensions to your personality.
Sometimes you're down to earth and crunchy. Other times, you're sweet and a little gooey.

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

After soaking the pumpkin seeds in salt water overnight I roasted them in the oven on 350 for about an hour, checking on them every 15 min or so and turing them over. The 2nd batch I made I sprinkled with some cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. To me the 2nd batch tastes way better than the 1st batch with just the salt.

Pumpkin coming out of my ears!

Tonight I spent hours baking pumpkins, scraping out the seeds, pureeing pumpkin and baking more pumpkin. I pureed 30 cups of pumpkin and froze it. I will be making lots of pumpkin bread, muffins, pie and cheesecake this winter and be giving some of the pumpkin away. I received two pumpkins for Free on Thursday. I was driving by a pumpkin patch and I saw all the pumpkins being cut open. So I stopped with a friend and asked what they were going to do with the leftover pumpkins... there were hundreds. They said they were just taking the seeds out and throwing the pumpkins away and he said we could have a couple. So we each got two pumpkins. And that is why I've been in the kitchen all evening pureeing pumpkin. Tomorrow I will roast the seeds.

Anyone have any good recipes for pumpkin?

Don't forget to "Fall Back" tonight!

What happened to my pants?

So a quick post before I retire to bed. Just wanted to post a picture of how Gavin was dressed this morning when Clint brought him upstairs. It was too cute. I was running late and had asked Clint to help get him dressed. Guess he didn't see the pants I set out. It would have been fine if it wasn't only 35 degrees outside.

NaBloPoMo Everyday!

I joined NaBloPoMo, in, an effort to post on my blog everyday in November. Maybe this will get me going on my new blog. It may be hard though because we will have company for almost a week and will be going on vacation in the mountains for almost a week. Hopefully I don't run out of things to post about. Guess I'll see how it goes....

Today I was on a cleaning/organizing frenzy. While Gavin took a two hour nap I cleaned, de-cluttered and organized my bedroom and one of the bathroom closets. Then this evening I organized the pantry. Over the next couple of weeks I'm going to try to work on a different part of the house each day and get it organized and cleaned. I will post my plan in the next week of so.
