25 Weeks

Went to a beautiful wedding tonight. The baby was dancing to the music. Been feeling pretty good lately. Going to check out the birthing center either tomorrow or Tuesday to decide if we are going that route instead of the hospital. I haven't been having any cravings which is totally the opposite of my 1st pregnancy. There are a lot of foods that don't sound good or I don't want to eat.

24 Weeks

Wow 6 months already! I went to my doctors appointment today. She said I was pretty boring, which is good and means everything is going well. My baby bump is measuring at 26 weeks and I'm 24 weeks and 3 days. The doctor got out her Doppler to listen to the baby's heart beat and couldn't hear it. I told her i thought she was listening to his bottom. Sure enough she moved it to the other side and could hear it fine. She said she didn't feel the head, but i think it's back near my spine. I'm feeling great. Didn't sleep good the other night because of the heartburn, but normally I'm sleeping pretty good. Finally broke down and bought some maternity tights this week, I couldn't stand my legs freezing everytime I wear a dress anymore. The baby sure is moving more and more. I could feel him moving what I think was his fingers in my side the other night. Definitely felt different than kicking, punching and jabs.

Finished Projects

Here are two of my latest crochet projects finished. The fingerless gloves I did last month while we were in Estes Park for the weekend. Then I decided to add a little ruffle to the one edge. The yellow baby blanket is finished and was gifted to a friend on Saturday at her baby shower.

Baking Time

Did a little baking yesterday. Made some roasted pumpkin seeds and Cherry Delight Cake. I don't like cherries much, but really liked the cake and it was super easy. Now what to do with all the pumpkin I have. Probably start with some pumpkin cookies. Any suggestions?

Cherry Delight Cake

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbs butter or margarine
(melted)
1 egg
(beaten)
2 cups fresh or frozen pitted pie cherries
(lightly drained - reserve 1 cup juice)
1/2 tsp pure almond extract
1/2 cup chopped nuts
(walnut, pecans, or hazelnuts)
Cherry Sauce
(see recipe below)
Prepared whipped topping
(optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. In a medium-size bowl, combine butter or margarine, egg, sour cherries, almond extract, and nuts: add to flour mixture. Bake, uncovered, in an ungreased 9-inch square pan 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from oven and cut into squares.

Prepare Cherry Sauce. Serve the Cherry Delight Cake with Hot Cherry Sauce and prepared whipped topping.

Makes 8 servings.

Cherry Sauce
1 cup cherry juice
1 tbs cornstarch
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 tsp pure almond extract
1 tbs butter or margarine

In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, combine cherry juice, cornstarch, sugar, almond extract, and butter or margarine; cook for 10 minutes, stirring constantly.

Berry Patch Farms

Last month Gavin and I made to trips to Berry Patch Farms in one week. Took some photos while we were there. We picked zinnias and bought some pumpkins and green chilies, 1/2 bushel hot and 1/2 bushel mild. Wow was it a lot more than I expected. Filled up the rest of the freezer. We would have picked some raspberries and strawberries, but it was way too muddy.

The roasted chillies.

We ended up with almost 100 mild chilies and 130 hot. I put 6-8 in a bag.

Things I've Been Working On

I've been doing quite a bit of crocheting lately. I made this pink blanket last week in about 4 or 5 nights. It's for a friend of mine expecting a girl next month.

This week I started another blanket for another friend, she is due at the end of the month and her shower is in a week. I should have it finished in a couple more nights.

I also have a giraffe I started over a month ago that I need to piece together and finish up.
And here is a quilt I started back in April that I need to quilt and it will be done. On top of both of those I need to do some major scrap booking in the next few months before the baby comes. I've been putting pictures and paper/embellishments together, so i just need to glue it all down when I get together with my friends and scrapbook again.

21 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 21 Weeks
Size of baby: about a pound
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 12 lbs
Gender: Boy!
Movement: Feeling the baby move throughout the day much more now.
Sleep: feeling pretty good, still like to take a nap when i can.
Cravings: none
Symptons: Heartburn
Maternity Clothes: Went to a clothes swap and surprisingly found lots of cute clothes that fit. Got a few dresses, the cute shirt in the pictures, and some more shirts/sweaters for winter.

Overall feeling pretty good lately. We brought the baby's dresser and the glider upstairs this weekend and put it in our master retreat area. Still trying to decide how to decorate and if we are going to setup the crib in the spare bedroom right away or keep it in our retreat for a while.

Some ideas I've been liking:

Wildlife Animal Sanctuary

Saturday we visited the Wild Animal Sanctuary. This 320-acre refuge is about half and hour from our house. They specialize in rescuing Large Carnivores and have more than 200.

35 tigers learning to live together in harmony.

2 new lion cubs.

Siberian Tiger

We also saw Eddy the black Leopard and other leopards, wolves, black and grizzly bears, camels and emu.
